How Long Does a Shower Remodel Take in Tampa? (Real Timelines)

Almost every shower remodel client in Tampa asks the same first question: how long am I going to be showering at the gym? Honest answer: 5 to 10 working days for a standard tub-to-shower conversion or tile shower rebuild, plus another couple of days if you want frameless glass. Here's the day-by-day breakdown from a crew that does these monthly across Tampa, Brandon, and Clearwater.

Day 1 — Demo and protection

We sheet off the bathroom door, run plastic down the hall to the front door, and demo the old shower or tub down to the studs. Old tile, backer board, fixtures, and pan all go to the dumpster. End of day 1 you're looking at framing and the slab. This is the day clients dread and it's actually the most fun.

Day 2 — Plumbing rough-in and inspection

Day 3 — Pan and waterproofing

Day 4 — Backer board and waterproof walls

Day 8 — Grout, caulk, and trim

Grout cure, silicone caulk in corners and at the floor, shower fixtures installed and pressure-tested. At this point your shower is usable for the first time.

Days 9–10 — Glass (if frameless)

Glass is the wild card. Frameless glass shops in Tampa Bay run 7–10 business days from measure to install. We measure on Day 8, the glass shop fabricates, and they install on Day 9 or 10. Sliding doors and curtain rod setups skip this step entirely.
