Most Popular Bathroom Tile Designs in 2026 (Tampa Edition)

Bathroom tile trends move slower than fashion but faster than most homeowners realize. The marble-and-chrome look that ruled 2020 is starting to feel dated; the all-white subway-tile-and-chevron-floor combo is everywhere on Zillow and starting to lose its edge too. Here's what we're actually installing in Tampa bathrooms in 2026 — from Hyde Park to Wesley Chapel — and what's on the way out.

1. Large-format marble-look porcelain (the runaway #1)

Calacatta and Statuario marble looks on 24x48 (or even 24x96) porcelain panels are dominating Tampa bathroom remodels in 2026. Bookmatched on a shower wall, they look stunning, have almost no grout lines, and clean like glass. Cost is real — $14–$22 per sq ft installed — but the wow factor is unmatched.

2. Zellige and zellige-look square tile

Handmade-look Moroccan zellige in soft greens, warm whites, and clay tones is the 2026 darling for accent walls, shower niches, and powder rooms. The slight color variation gives a bathroom warmth that uniform subway tile can't. Real zellige is fragile and expensive; the porcelain look-alikes from brands like Bedrosians install just as fast as regular subway.

3. Wood-look plank tile floors

Still a top three pick, especially in Florida. Wood-look 8x48 or 9x60 porcelain planks give the warmth of hardwood in a room where actual wood would die in a month. Most installs we do go in a third-stagger or herringbone pattern. Light oak and gray washed tones are dominating; dark walnut is largely on the way out.

4. Matte black hex and penny round floors

Tiny mosaic floors are back, especially in master bathrooms with white marble walls. Matte black hex, deep green penny round, and forest-green fish scale are the standouts. They show every drip, which Tampa moms either love or hate — there's no middle ground.

5. Vertically-stacked subway tile

The classic 3x12 white subway tile is still everywhere, but the orientation flipped — vertical stack instead of horizontal offset is the 2026 look. Cheap to buy, fast to install, hard to date. A safe choice for a guest bath that needs to last 15 years.
