A South Fork homeowner converted their master tub-surround to a curbless walk-in shower with large-format gray porcelain and a frameless glass enclosure.
The Challenge
The 2008 South Fork home had a fiberglass tub-surround that was discolored and had failed caulk at the tub joint. The homeowner wanted to age-in-place and requested a curbless entry — requiring careful floor-height planning so the linear drain sat flush with the surrounding tile.
Our Solution
We demoed the existing unit, built up the shower floor to accommodate a recessed linear drain at the correct height, applied KERDI waterproofing, and installed 24×48 large-format porcelain on the walls and a 12×12 anti-slip mosaic on the shower floor. The curbless entry transitions seamlessly to the bathroom tile outside.
The Result
A clean, accessible walk-in shower that works for the family now and remains practical as they age. The linear drain is easy to clean and the large-format tile gives the space a luxury feel at a mid-range budget.

How do you achieve a curbless shower entry?
