A FishHawk Ranch family replaced all carpet on the ground floor with 1,400 sq ft of waterproof LVP — including the staircase — in 2.5 days.
The Challenge
The homeowners had original carpet throughout the ground floor of their 2007 FishHawk home. After a pet accident soaked through to the subfloor in two rooms, they decided to replace all carpet with LVP. They also wanted the staircase done in matching LVP treads and risers.
Our Solution
We removed all carpet and tack strips, vacuumed and swept the subfloor, checked for squeaks (found 3 — screwed down), and installed the LVP with a 10-mil vapor barrier throughout. The staircase got matching LVP treads with pre-finished stair-nosing and painted risers. All transitions, thresholds and reducer strips installed.
The Result
The ground floor looks completely transformed. Pet accidents no longer penetrate to the subfloor. The staircase matches the ground floor perfectly. The homeowners were surprised at the 2.5-day completion time for a project of this scope.

Questions About This Project
How do you handle the staircase with LVP flooring?
Stair treads get LVP applied with construction adhesive and a stair-nosing trim piece that wraps the front edge. Risers can be LVP or painted — both look clean.
