A 1985 Carrollwood kitchen got a full refresh — cabinet door repaint, new hardware, quartz countertops, subway tile backsplash and under-cabinet lighting — without replacing the cabinet boxes.
The Challenge
The 1985 Carrollwood kitchen had original oak cabinets in excellent structural condition but a dated honey-oak finish. The laminate countertops were chipping. The homeowner didn't want to spend $30,000 on a full kitchen replacement — they wanted the impact of a renovation at a fraction of the cost.
Our Solution
We removed all doors and drawer fronts, deglossed, primed with a bonding primer and applied two topcoats of white eggshell sprayed smooth. New brushed-gold hardware went on every door and drawer. Quartz countertops replaced the laminate. A 3×6 white subway tile backsplash with charcoal grout went in behind the range and under the cabinets. LED strip lighting was added under the cabinets.
The Result
The kitchen looks like a magazine feature. Multiple guests assumed the homeowners had installed all-new cabinets. Total project cost was $8,400 in materials and labor — compared to $28,000+ for new cabinets.
