A 1930s Seminole Heights bungalow got a full interior repaint with a 5-color period-appropriate palette — walls, ceilings, and all original wood trim.
The Challenge
The homeowner had just purchased a 1930s Seminole Heights bungalow with 90 years of paint buildup on the original wood trim and multiple layers of flat white paint on the walls. They wanted a color scheme appropriate to the Craftsman style of the home without spending a fortune.
Our Solution
We scuff-sanded all trim (no stripping — too much risk to the original wood profiles), spot-primed bare areas, and applied a satin white topcoat on all trim and doors. Walls got a moisture-barrier primer coat followed by an eggshell topcoat in a warm greige. The accent room got a deep hunter green. Ceilings used Sherwin-Williams Duration flat white throughout.
The Result
The bungalow looks like a magazine feature. The contrast between the white trim and warm walls highlights the original Craftsman details — crown molding, picture rails and built-in shelves. The homeowner was delighted with the final result at a 5-day total project duration.

Questions About This Project
Do you paint original Craftsman trim in Seminole Heights without stripping?
In most cases yes — stripping is risky with original wood profiles and often unnecessary. Proper scuff-sand, prime and topcoat gives an excellent finish that will last 10+ years.
