A 1990s Clearwater hall bath was refreshed with new 18×18 porcelain tile, a modern vanity, comfort-height toilet and updated ventilation in 4 days.
The Challenge
The homeowners had a 1990s hall bath with original pink ceramic floor tile, a builder-grade single-sink vanity with a plastic top and a water-inefficient toilet. The bath was functional but dated and detracted from an otherwise well-maintained home.
Our Solution
We installed new 18×18 warm-gray porcelain tile over the existing ceramic floor (tile-over-tile — the existing floor was level and sound). New 36" vanity with a quartz top replaced the original. A Toto comfort-height elongated toilet replaced the original. We added a new exhaust fan vented to the exterior, new mirror and light bar.
The Result
The bath looks like a completely different room. The tile-over-tile approach saved significant demo cost and the result is indistinguishable from a full gut-and-replace. Total project: 4 days, $3,200 in materials and labor.

Questions About This Project
Can you tile over existing tile in a Clearwater bathroom?
Often yes — we tap-test the existing tile for hollow spots and verify the floor is level. If both check out, tile-over-tile saves demo cost and time. Height at thresholds is the main variable to manage.
