A 1982 Carrollwood guest bath with harvest-gold fixtures was modernized with subway tile, a new vanity and updated plumbing fixtures in 5 days.
The Challenge
The original 1982 harvest-gold toilet, sink and tub fixtures were intact but looked every bit of their age. The ceramic tile was a matching harvest-gold with a decorative border. The homeowner was preparing to sell and wanted the bath to look neutral and modern for buyers.
Our Solution
We removed the original fixtures, installed a comfort-height elongated toilet, replaced the vanity with a 36" unit with a white quartz top, and removed the dated tile surround. New 3×6 white subway tile went on the shower walls; a new 12×12 white-gray ceramic went on the floor. New brushed-nickel fixtures throughout.
The Result
The bath photographed as one of the highlights in the listing. The home sold in 11 days at full asking price. The real estate agent called the Carrollwood average for this house; the Realtor attributed several thousand in additional value to the updated bath.

Questions About This Project
Is it worth remodeling a bathroom before selling a home in Carrollwood?
Almost always yes for dated 1980s baths — the cost is $3,500–$6,000 for a targeted refresh and the return on listing price and days-on-market is typically 2–4× the investment.
