A Temple Terrace two-car garage was converted to a climate-controlled home office — insulated, drywalled, painted and equipped with a mini-split and smart lighting.
The Challenge
The homeowner worked from home full-time and needed a dedicated office with a proper door, climate control, and professional finish. The garage was unfinished with exposed block walls and a concrete floor.
Our Solution
We insulated the block walls with 1.5" rigid foam and framed out 2×4 interior walls. We hung and finished 480 sq ft of drywall, painted the walls in a light cool gray, installed a Mitsubishi mini-split for heating and cooling (coordinated licensed electrical for the 240V circuit), added 4 recessed LED lights and 8 Kasa smart switches, and installed a solid-core interior door with a lockset.
The Result
A fully functional professional home office that stays comfortable year-round. The homeowner noted it was better than their previous corporate office.

Questions About This Project
Do you need a permit for a garage conversion in Temple Terrace?
For non-structural interior finishing (insulation, drywall, painting), typically no permit is required in Hillsborough County for converting a garage to living space without changing the exterior. For electrical and mechanical work, permits apply. We advise on permit requirements for each project scope.
